The Michele Ferrero Entrepreneurial Project in Cameroon has focused its social and humanitarian initiatives on supporting the efforts of local government’s educational authorities to upgrade pre-school and primary school facilities.
In October 2016, new classrooms were created for children and young people at the Gado-Badzere refugee camp in the south-east of the country, on the border with the Republic of Central Africa. The camp hosts thousands of people - coming mainly from the Republic of Central Africa - who took refuge in Cameroon to escape the war which is raging their country.
Among these there are over 2,000 children between 6 and 8 years of age, half of whom do not attend compulsory schooling.
The initiative was implemented in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR, a specialized agency already awarded two Nobel Peace Prizes).
Ferrero in Cameroon
Cameroon is the cradle where in 2005 the first Entrepreneurial Project was born, today named after Michele Ferrero.
The Group is currently present in the country with its own production plant in the capital Yaoundé as well as a commercial and logistics hub in Douala.
In Cameroon Ferrero is also involved in researching the local raw materials, especially cocoa, used to make - currently still in the experimental phase - semi-processed products which, in turn, are utilized by other companies of the Group.
FTL-AICS (AID 11613) PROJECT
Initiative co-financed by Ferrero Trading Lux S.A. (FTL) and by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) for the improvement of the quality and production capacity of the cocoa supply chain in Cameroon

Strengthening of the department of pediatrics at the Hospital of Saint Martin de Porrès in Yaoundé, by financing hospital material and equipment.
Financial year 2013-2014
Building of a new school block at the Cité Verte nursery school in the capital Yaoundé and renovation of the whole school.
The project made the entire school complex, which was in very bad conditions, safe whilst decent health, sanitary and environmental conditions were restored for over 200 children and their teachers.
Potential sources of malaria transmission were also removed. These entailed stagnant rainwater, and sewage and bathrooms without septic tanks.
100 children and their teachers can now work and play in the new school block in comfortable, more spacious and better equipped new classrooms.
